BIC Center Granada

The building is made up of six independent architectural structures and covers a surface area of 10,389m˛.

Each part of the building serves a different purpose. The different architectural structures which make up the building and the uses assigned to them are as follows:

  • Block 1 to house functional laboratory units.
  • Blocks 2, 3 and 4 to house functional office units.
  • Central block for the reception area, bar, café and restaurant and general services.
  • Warehouse and Garage unit: there is a garage in the basement and the floor above houses 10 warehouses, each of a surface area of approximately 125 m2.

  Aims of the BIC:

  • To offer a better service to customers. To become a reference point both for researchers who wish to transfer their knowledge to society and for businesspeople who want to innovate.
  • To create synergies:
    • Between innovators: To combine abilities and work together to offer services in the most efficient way possible.
    • Between the public and private sectors, researchers and businesspeople, existing and new companies, and ICT and biotechnological companies.
  • To innovate by example. This is a model without precedent, which makes it an ideal platform to put into practice and validate new innovation policies.
  • To identify lines of work which are likely to be exploited by businesses and which fall into the scientific production and service provision capabilities of the University and Research Centres.
  • To promote the creation of new technology-based companies, especially those which are created as a result of research carried out and with a particular emphasis on the life and health sciences sector.
  • To provide companies with the working environment required to carry out their work.
  • To raise private and public funds to support the technology-based companies in collaboration with organisations which support innovation.
