Europath Biosciences (Althia)

Althia is a company dedicated to the Personalised Predictive Oncology. Althia specializes in generating knowledge to improve the comprehensive management of cancer patients. Operates in three areas: 1) Clinical Diagnostics/Prognostics Services in hematological and solid tumors, to public and private hospitals, and laboratories; 2) R&D translational projects in collaboration with leading centers to identify molecular patterns in order to allow selection of patients responding to a given therapy; and 3) treatment by single dose image-guided radiation therapy (SD-IGRT), being implemented at the facilities of the Hospital of Santa Creu i Sant Pau in Barcelona.

Althia has launched an R&D program focused on translational Tumor Phenotyping. The aim is to develop predictive mathematical algorithms to determine which patients are likely to benefit from different therapeutic modalities, and select and individualized treatments.

Some lines of research are: identification of predictive models for treatment option through the application of Molecular Pathology and Systems (e.g. lymphomas and gliomas) Detection and characterization of circulating tumor cells-CTC (e.g. prostate cancer, malignant melanoma and rectal metastatic cancer), study the modulation of therapeutic avenues (e.g. gastric cancer) and development of an expert system for diagnosis and personalized treatment in patients with cancer (breast, colorectal and lung)

For each of these projects Althia has established public-private multidisciplinary partnerships, with centers of clinical and scientific excellence, and top professional teams with extensive experience in the cancers studied.
