The Technology Park of Health Sciences (PTS) of Granada is an area of ??over 625,000 m² that brings together the infrastructure and quality services to the general objectives which aims: to become a space for teaching excellence, care, research and business, specializing sectorally in life sciences. Also create a brand image 'great health' with a national impact as a leader in southern Europe and northern Africa, and also as a model to generate a new economy in the environment. It is the first technology space sectorally specialized in life sciences and health. On its 625,000 m² materializes a maximum floor area 388,000 m², divided into three uses: teaching (98,000 sqm), health (120,000 m²) and business research and development (170,000 m²).

Pharmaceutical Development, Biotechnology and Food

The PTS is shown as an ideal environment for the development of pharmaceutical, life sciences and food. After implementation of the laboratory plant ROVI and participation PFIZER in the project GENyO, operates the Center of Excellence for Research on Innovative Medicines in Andalusia-MEDINA, where they are present Merck, Sharp & Dohme (MSD). Likewise, a protocol was signed between the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Health of the Andalusian ROVI and pharmaceutical companies for the construction and equipping of the first floor of flu vaccines to be built in Spain, a project in which NOVARTIS pharmaceutical participate. In the field of telecare, the Center of Excellence at Telefónica I + D is already working on several projects and companies like BIONATURIS, ABBOTT, VIRCELL and institutions like the Centre for Research and Development of functional foods (CIDAF) design and development and its implementation .

As for the teaching area, the University of Granada plans to invest nearly 200 million euros in the coming years. In the first phase are running the Schools of Medicine and Health Sciences, the General Services building and development in the built environment. In a second phase will rise buildings of the faculties of Pharmacy and Dentistry.

Teaching and health care will be enhanced with the new University Hospital, a modern building with an area of ??110,000 m2 capable of assuming the health challenges of the twenty-first century, to be a reference model for its high level of technology and management.
