Caja Rural Renews a 3 Million Euro Credit Facility for PTS Granada.

Ángel Schmolling, finance director of savings bank Caja Rural Granada, and Jesús Quero, managing director of the Health Science Technological Park Foundation (PTS), have signed the renewal of a 3,000,000 euro credit facility on favourable terms. With renewal of this credit facility, Caja Rural has once again contributed to the financing, and hence the growth and consolidation, of this major economic driver for Granada.

Signing of the Credit Facility at the Caja Rural central office.

The purpose of this credit facility is to meet the financing and cash flow needs of the PTS Foundation, one of the current leaders in biotechnology development, which has placed Granada among the cities of knowledge in one of the fields with the highest present and future growth potential, primarily based on research and innovation.

The PTS is a space for excellence with the ideal infrastructure and services for the aims it pursues: becoming the leading technology complex (training, healthcare, research and business) specialising in the health and life sciences sector. A further aim is to generate a “Granada Salud” brand image with national impact in southern Europe and northern Africa, while at the same time promoting itself as a model for the generation of a new economy in the region. Its 625,000 m² of land have a maximum buildable area of 378,000 m², divided into three uses: education, healthcare and business research and development.

When the PTS complex is fully completed, it is expected to attract investments in excess of 750 million euros, of which more than 693 have already been contracted. A total of 99 companies and institutions are currently located in the Park, employing more than 2,800 workers, besides the workforce of the Campus de la Salud Hospital (around 3,000) of which 46% are mainly involved in R&D activities. Over 1,500 medium- to high-skilled jobs have already been created at the PTS, where 25 buildings are already operational and a further one is currently under construction.
